Summer 2014 Wrap-Up

Wow!  What a busy summer Frisco has had!  As Jerry Jones said at the Dallas Cowboys HQ groundbreaking, “The Cowboys have caught the Frisco Flu.”  We’ve had the Frisco Flu for quite some time and hope it keeps spreading!

At the beginning of August, we attended the Wade Park groundbreaking. Anchored by Whole Foods, other highly anticipated businesses that have recently announced locations in the development, include iPic theaters and Pinstripes BBB. These, and additional tenants, will bring the dining, open space, and family atmosphere options that our residents have been requesting. To stay up to date on all the announcements here is their Facebook page.

GearBox Software broke ground in Frisco Square. The Tower of Frisco Square will be an exciting addition and help kick start further area development.  Here is some more information about The Tower of Frisco Square and GearBox.

Also in August, the Cowboys broke ground on their Headquarters and practice facility.  This is a great venue for our city as our school age kids will be able to use it.  The $115 million headquarters and stadium/event facility is funded by The City of Frisco, the Frisco Community Development Corporation, the Frisco Economic Development Corporation, and Frisco ISD. The Cowboys will be leasing the stadium and Frisco ISD and the city will have the use of the stadium for sports and other events. Construction on the headquarters and events facility is expected to be complete in 2016.

Most recently, Jeff and his fellow city councilmen approved a 72-acre master plan for the Northeast Community Park.  This active Frisco addition will include several multipurpose fields that can be used for football, soccer, lacrosse, cricket, or even small gatherings or events. Recreational options planned include a splash pad, playground, pavilions, and a pond with a fishing pier.

Additionally, Scottish Rite Hospital for Children announced their intentions to build on the northeast corner of DNT and Lebanon. Project construction is expected to coincide with timing of Cowboys HQ and Wade Park.

We hope you and your family had a great summer and enjoy some college football watching. Sic ‘Em and Hook ‘Em!
